The Cat in the Passage

A black cat watching from a window in one of Old Town Poole’s narrow brick passages.

Behind the image

The passage already had strong lines and wonderful texture, but the cat gave the scene its character. I used the large brick arch as a frame and let the channel in the paving lead towards the bend. In black and white, the cat becomes a small, slightly mysterious figure among the layers of old brickwork.
